You would be foolish to gamble on a race horse jokey Anthony Knott was racing, but with a bit of wisdom, the worlds worst horse jokey had an unlikely victory.
One of the biggest losing streaks ever is over. The man called 'the world's worst jockey' by UK media has finally won a horse race and immediately resigned from the sport, after 28-years of losing.
Surely one of the great sporting losers in history, Anthony Knott jumped for joy when his horse Wise Men Say ran home strongly to win by almost two full lengths. The 7-1 long shot would have been considered a highly foolish bet for those in the business, but Knott pulled off the unlikeliest of victories.
"I just wanted to win one race...I've done it now so I think I'll leave it at that," he said after finising the the Racing Post Hands and Heels Novices' Handicap Hurdle.
"I still can't really believe what happened," he said.
"I'm on such a buzz. I'm a bit unaccustomed to victory and as I was coming into the final part of the race there was a massive roar from the crowd.
"It was just instinct to stand up and give them a wave, I wasn't thinking straight for a minute.
"Then I thought, 'Oh God, it's not finished yet' and I could hear another horse coming up behind me so I sat back down and got on with it."
