Flight 3407: Video of Clarence/Buffalo Plane Crash, Continental Airlines Aircraft Down into Houses

A commercial jet has crashed into Clarence Centre, in Buffalo in New York.

According to local TV news WGRZ the plane smashed into a house and at least 48 people were on board, including 4 crew. Acording to CNN's Anderson Cooper, an FAA spokesperson said all on the Bombardier Dash 8 Q 400 jet died.

Flight 3407,crashed into a single house in the town of Clarence, on the suburban outskirts of Buffalo as it approached the Niagra International Airport in Buffalo, New York. The crash happend at 10.20pm local time.

The plane, a Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, went down in the area of Long Street. That's near the intersection of Goodrich and Clarence Center Roads. There's no word on the kind of plane that crashed or the conditions of people on board or on the ground.

WGRZ showed a live picture of a fire on the ground coming via Skype streamed Internet video.

The fire was large. The news broadcast also said that one victim died on the ground, others had been rushed to local hospitals, one journalist claimed.....However a snap news conference said that there was no word on any survivors at this point.

The plane crashed about 10:20 p.m., hitting a home and bursting into a fireball, according to New York State Trooper John Manthey.

Area resident Keith Burtis said he was driving to the store about a mile from the crash site when he heard the plane go down. "It was a high-pitched sound," Burtis said. "It felt like a mini-earthquake."

Weather conditions were below average, with snow, sleet and strong winds experienced at the time of the crash....

Another local said he was listening to air traffic control at the time of the incident, this is what he had to say:

"Continental Flight 3407 (operated by Colgan Air dba Continental Connection) I believe this was the plane.

"It was headed to Bufalo from Newark.....I was listening...sounded like it missed the runway somehow and did not land as planned. The tower was trying to talk to the pilot, but from what I could hear got to reply. "

"They indicated it went down about 5 miles from the airport. Many pilots wee reporting problems with icing tonight and I believe I heard one say they were having a problem with the airports normalizer. This may have contributed. My prayers are with the passengers and crew."
