Continental Flight 3407....Crash in New York...Keith Burtis is the blogging man and twitter maestro who first alerted the world to the Buffalo, New York Flight 3407 air crash at 10.30pm local time Thursday night.
Its just another example how new social media and blogs are changing the face and way news is reported to hundreds of millions of people at any one time.
"Holy Shit! A small plane crashed into homes a couple miles from my house! Jet fuel is spilling into the streets!!!!" Keith Burtis wrote on his Twitter page just moments after the disaster.
He later recalled what he was doing at the exact moment of impact.
"I was out and about at the time and heard the plane whistling and sounding very odd. A few moments later the crash took place on Long St., a homey residential area.," he recalled on his personal blog, Keithburtis.com
"Please pray that people were not killed! Plane flew right in the house! Traffic is insane and helicopters above," Burtis wrote on Twitter as he observed the on going situation.
"Huge crater where the plane landed, and the home next door destroyed as well!"
Within minutes media from around the World including the BBC, Sky News, Fox News, CNN, AM radio in Canada, local TV news across the United States and was being booked for various morning news shows.
It was the first report the world got of the disaster that killed 49 people including one person on the ground.
