Dubbed by New York Daily News as Russia's Sarah Palin, Livejournal blog of Maria Sergeyeva is a must read for Russian right wing politcal and cultural observers ... Described by some as "psychologically abnormal" Maria Sergeyeva is the sexy young face of Putin's Russia.
Profiled in British press, Maria Sergeyeva is the 24-year-old pro-Russian ruling elite multi-media star who's rapid rise in popularity gives a face to the confident and patriotic youth movements Vladimir Putin has successfully tapped into to help defend the ruling government in the face of economic turmoil.
With an apparent fondness for pink bikinis, Maria Sergeyeva is a proponent for Russian made products, is anti-immigration and outspoken against any who dare speak out against Vladimir Putin and youthful President Medvedev.

Russia and her future?Op-Ed columns, blogs, pod-casts and political rallies starring the Russian political minx continue to grow in popularity so much so that the philosophy student she is tipped to become a Minister in the Russian government.
Yet, despite her anti-Western rhetoric, Maria Sergeyeva ironically idolises former British Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and Winston Churchill.
"I love Thatcher and Churchill because they are self-made leaders,' she says. 'I think Thatcher and I have some similarities. I don't like how my voice sounds when I am making speeches and I have read that Thatcher corrected her vocal cords to make her voice sound better - I may do the same. She worked hard. She is a good example for me."
But despite her Putin love, Maria Sergeyeva may be just another stereotypical Russian dumb blond, a leaf in the wind. Just three years ago Sergeyeva was as anti-Putin as much as she is pro-Putin today.

Maria Sergeyeva, politcal minx."She was a prominent activist in the tiny Democratic Party, a group that wanted Russia to join the European Union. Her most effective protest was a demonstration mocking Russia's rulers as robots and androids," The Daily Mail said.
Suggestions have been made that she was simply "a spy" who just came home when she joined pro-Kremlin youth movement The Young Guards. Others suggest Putin spotted Maria Sergeyeva, and a cheque book was all that she needed to convince a sudden change of sides.
Ofcourse, Maria Sergeyeva isn't just well known for her conservative politcal stance, shes is after all just a girl as well.
Her now famous blog veers off into Bridget Jones territory, as the Daily Mail says.
Maria often likes to reveal her irritations with men.
"My friend Anya got married this summer, I was maid of honour at her wedding and even caught the bride's bouquet,' she writes in one entry. 'Now I am the only one who's left single among my girlfriends. The rest are married. I have only cats."
She laments the fact that men "don't understand what's wrong in wanting to have sex with someone else ... I've never seen someone who didn't cheat on his partner for three years in a row. Maybe they exist?' "

One picture shows her looking the worse for wear. "I'm at a conference. Drunk - and after the banya [sauna]. It's 3am. A plastic glass with champagne in one hand and single malt whisky, 12 years old, in the other. So I drink champagne after whisky. And wearing nothing but stockings and flag of Cuba. This is my way of finding adventures."
Maria Sergeyeva came to prominent attention more than a month ago after a memorable political rally where she defended the Kremlin in the face of Russia's newest economic crisis, after years of massive economic growth that once underpinned Vladimir Putin's popular rise to authoritarian leader.
The Times of London reported that Maria Sergeyeva told a large crowd that she knew “for certain” Vladimir Putin, Russia’s prime minister, and Dimitry Medvedev, who succeeded him as president last May, would protect her from the world financial crisis.

“Together we will win!” she cried.
The ranks of young Russians who share her conservative views are growing. The Kremlin sponsors several youth groups to spread patriotic sentiment. Hard hit by the country’s economic problems, the government is becoming worried by the risk of social unrest. The encouragement of patriotic political activism is seen as a crucial counter-measure.
