David Kellermann US Chief Financial Officer at Credit, Finance Company Freddie Mac Found Dead

David Kellermann, 41-year-old acting CEO of mortgage and credit giant found dead at his home in Virginia.

Various US news organizations are reporting that David Kellermann, Freddie Mac Acting Chief Financial Officer, has been found did in his Virginia home.

Local Police in Halifax, Virginia say David Kellermanns death is not suspicious, he may have taken his own life.

Freddie Mac's website said David Kellermann was "responsible for the company's financial controls, financial reporting, tax, capital oversight, and compliance with the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley. He also oversees the company's annual budgeting and financial planning processes."

Prior to this role, he served as senior vice president, corporate controller and principal accounting officer. In this position, his primary responsibility was to support the business with the production of timely, accurate, and well-controlled GAAP, fair value and segment earnings financial statements and external disclosures.

Action CEO David Kellermann was obviously involved in the number crunching and many decisions at the US government backed Freddie Mac, that had to be rescued by the US government in 2008.

The financial institution has been at the heart of the global financial crisis, toxic assets and the US housing bubble that exploded a few years ago now that lead to the current global economic problems.

Freddie Mac, a government controlled company that owns or guarantees about 13 million home loans. CEO David Moffett resigned last month and David Kellermann had taken over from him, noted the New York Times.

Freddie Mac and its partners have been hobbled by skyrocketing loan defaults and have received about $60 billion in combined federal aid the Times added.

David Kellermann held an M.S. in Finance from George Washington University and a B.S. in Political Science and Accounting from the University of Michigan. Kellermann was also a volunteer board member of the D.C. Coalition for the Homeless.
