Silvio Berlusconi has launched a challenge on newspaper La Repubblica, accusing the left leaning paper of defamation and denigration. La Repubblica has demanded the PM explain his relationship with fashion model Noemi Letizia. Noemi Letizia refers to the PM as Papi. Noemi Letizia rumours range from being an illegitimate daughter to a secret dating and adult love affair with the fashionista, Letizia.

Berlusconi also said in other interview that he simply wanted to help the fashion model into the world of entertainment and politics and that his relationship with Neomi Letizia was simply one of friendship and not love or lust.
“They will be ashamed, and will lose the respect of voters. In this case there is nothing improper, nothing that is not more than clean,” he told Radio Monte Carlo on the Noemi Letizia scandal.
“The behaviour of several newspapers has really been disgraceful, vile — I would even say disgusting. When people will understand the real situation several people will be ashamed.”
Other rumours suggest that Noemi Letizia is actually Silvio's illegitimate daughter. Noemi Letizia denied such an allegation to The Times of London.
The mother of Noemi Letizia, Anna Palumbo, has refused to say when and how she met Mr Berlusconi. Noemi Letizia's mother and father are wealthy business owners.
The Prime Minister claims that he got to know the family of Noemi Letizia through her husband, Benedetto Letizia.
The growing scandal around the alleged affair or unknown relationship with Noemi Letizia come at a crucial time in Berlusconi's political career. Corruption and other controversies surrounding the Italian constitution, along with the tabloid scandal surrounding the fashionista and fashion model Noemi Letizia have contributed to depression for the Italian PM.
Berlusconi has used his tight control and ownership of much of the Italian media to fight back against the Noemi Letizia scandal and against his long time wife.
The PM's wife was particularly alarmed that the right-wing paper Libero had run front-page pictures of her scantly clap when she was an actress 30 years ago under the headline: “Veronica Ungrateful Showgirl”.
