The Brazillian Air Force says they have found the debris field of crashed airplane Air France Flight 447 Rio to Paris.
Colonel Jorge Amaral said two airfoce planes spotted wreckage, presumed to be Flight 447.
According to the Brazilian Air Force Colonel Jorge Amaral, a R-99 radar plane that had left base late Monday night South American time detected radar electriacl signals in the early morning hours of Tuesday, indicating possible wreckage and debris of Air France Flight 447.
Metallic and non-metallic objects were viewed by the Brazillian Air Force at day break, in two different locations. Each location was 60 kilomters from each other, about 650 km northwest of Fernando de Noronha, near the very tine islands of Sao Pedro and Sao Paul.
Globo TV reports the visual confirmation of Flight 447 debris field was made by a C-130 aircraft.
The information is not yet confirmed and ships in the area are being asked to divert to the area to confirm the debris field is that of Air France Flight 447.
The Air France Flight 447 left Rio de Janeiro for Paris Sunday evening and dropped off radar screens across the Atlantic region around 4 hours into the flight.
