The husband of cheating wife Cynthia Hampton, and former senior staffer to disgraced Nevada US Senator John Ensign, Douglas Hampton, is said to have tried to sell his family's story to a major US TV network and cash in on the affair gripping American politics.
News reports from Las Vegas suggest Douglas Hampton tried to exploit his wife, Cynthia Hampton's affair with the powerful Republican Senator by going to the media, before the news was scuttled by a public statement from Senator Ensign saying he had a love affair with Cynthia Hampton, surprising many in Washington DC.
Las Vegas media report that Douglas Hampton is said to have gone to hottie anchorwoman from Fox News channel, leggy blond Megyn Kelly, to help expose Senator John Ensign's “heinous conduct and pursuit” of his wife, Cynthia Hampton.
It seems as though before any news media could expose the Cynthia Hampton and John Ensign love affair, the Republican Senator from Nevada actually held a pre-emptive press conference to confess his extra-marital activities.
Douglas Hampton: Out to expose former boss, Nevada Senator John Ensign.According to the Las Vegas Sun newspaper, Douglas Hampton, with an obvious crush on the Fox News anchor, pledaded for Megyn Kelly to expose his former friend and boss John Ensign.
The letter to Megyn Kelly from Doug Hampton read: “The actions of Senator Ensign have ruined our lives and careers and left my family in shambles. We have lost significant income, suffered indescribable pain and emotional suffering.
"We find ourselves today with an overwhelming loss of relationships, career opportunities and hope for recovery. Our pursuit of justice continues to place me and my family in harm’s way as we fear for our well being.”
The bizarre Douglas Hampton letter to Megyn Kelly was addressed to the corporate office of the right wing leaning network in New York City.
The Megyn Kelly-Douglas Hampton letter on John Engsing and his wife Cynthia Hampton went on to say that Douglas Hampton wanted “to establish the framework for discussion and provide enough information to warrant a meeting with you (Kelly) and Fox News.”
Douglas Hampton addressed the letter to Megyn Kelly because he had “great respect” for Fox News and that Megyn Kelly is a trained lawyer and the story had several legal elements.
“I could have sought the most liberal, Republican hating media to expose this story, but there are people’s lives at stake and justice is about proper process as well as outcome. Senator Ensign has no business serving in the US Senate anymore!”
“Senator Ensign’s conduct and relentless pursuit of my wife led to our dismissal in April 2008.”“I would like to say he stopped his heinous conduct and pursuit upon our leaving, but that was not the case, and his actions did not subside until August of 2008.”
Hampton also wrote that he and others had confronted Ensign about his “unethical behavior"
“In fact, one of the confrontations took place in February 2008 at his (Ensign’s) home in Washington D.C. with a group of his peers... One of the attendees was Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma, as well as several other men who are close to the senator.”
“It appears there may be nothing the law can do to correct and bring justice and restitution to this terrible wrong that has been done us,” he wrote. “I have sought a number of lawyers who are having difficulty finding charges that may hold up in court.”“It is my belief we are dealing with a very powerful person and institution in the U.S. Senate that only the media can pierce to expose the wrong and bring light and focus to what needs to be done.
“Please help me! This should not be how the leadership of our country should be allowed to behave. I need justice, help and restitution for what Senator Ensign has done to me and my family.”

Josh, there was a Democrat who cheated on his sick wife. His name is John Edwards.
In fact, the press sat on that story for months and months before it finally had to report on it.
Even when photos of Edwards and the baby surfaced, the media sat on the story.
It wasn't until Edwards admitted infidelity that it was reported by a mainstream news outlet.
Fox reported very little on that story and has been very respectful of Elizabeth Edwards.
Let's not forget Elliot Spitzer and a half dozen other cheating dems who have been caught in recent years. Fox hasn't reported any more on those stories than CNN (Clinton News Network).
