An Italian woman, named Johanna Ganthaler, who was lucky to miss the ill fated death flight of Air France Flight 447, that crashed and disintegrated over the Atlantic Ocean, has died in a car crash.

Italian news agency ANSA said that Johanna Ganthaler and her husband had only just missed Air France Flight 447 in Rio de Janeiro on June 1.

A pensioner, Johanna Ganthaler, was from Bolzano-Bozen Province (South Tyrol), the Italian news agency said.

Husband of Johanna Ganthaler, Kurt Ganthaler, was vacationing in Brazil with wife Johanna Ganthaler and missed their Air France flight 447 from Rio de Janeiro to Paris on June 1, after being late.

The couple, Johanna Ganthaler and Kurt Ganthaler took a flight back Europe later on the same day Air France Flight 447 crashed.

A car carrying Johanna Ganthaler and husband Kurt crashed after swerving across a road and being crunched by an oncoming truck near Kufstein, Austria, killing Ganthaler instatly, ANSA said.

Johanna Ganthaler's husband Kurt was seriously injured in the crash, Italian media said.
