"I have come here to seek a new beginning between the United States and the Muslim world based upon mutual interest and mutual respect," Obama began.
"I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of the story of America. Since our founding, American Muslims have enriched the United States," Obama added.
He said the U.S. administration would fight against the "negative stereotypes of Islam."

Obama: US will continue pressing for Palestinian state, Israeli settlements must stop.
During the Cairo speech, President Obama quoted the Holy Koran.
"Be conscious of God and speak always the truth." He said he shared that conviction, as "rooted in my own experience."
The president noted that while he now is a Christian, his father had come from a Kenyan family that "includes generations of Muslims." CNN Arab analyst Octavia Nassar noted this was they key reason Barack Obama was liked by some Muslims.
Obama pointed out an American Muslim - Rep. Keith Ellison, of Minnesotta - as the first to be elected to Congrress, saying he took the oath "using the same Holy Koran that one of our Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson, kept in his personal library."
Along with using the Koran, Obama also quoted from the Holy Bible and the Jewish Talmud in making his argument for better relations between the United States and the Muslim world.

Around half way into Obama's 45 minute Cairo speech, a member of the audience, later reported to be Actor and director Sherif Mounir, yelled out to Obama, "I love you". President Obama replied with a smile "Thank you!"

Meanwhile during the Obama Cairo speech, Reuters reported Breaking news that Osama bin Laden had released a message to counter the US President, the Reuters Bullitn said: "Osama Bin Laden warns Muslims against alliance with Christians and Jews, says such alliance annuls their faith."
