iPhone 3GS comes with an Oleophobic iPhone screen technologyApparently the new iPhone 3G S from Apple comes packed with a secret ingredient screen protectioin technology, called an Oleophobic screen, the iPhone 2009 edition has a fingerprint and dirt build up proof touch screen.
America's favourite science man, Bill Nye the Science Guy, helps all you smartphone and iPhone fan kids why the Oleophobic screen is so special, via Gizmodo.
According to Bill Nye the Science Guy, the purpose of the oleophobic screen on the iPhone smartphone is that it allows the new iPhone 3G S to becomes fingerprint and dirt resistant, for a longer lasting Apple iPhone experience.
Bill Nye the Science guy and the Oleophoic iPhone...The iPhone 3G S will see way fewer smudges and scrapes from your dirty, dont wanna know where they have been, fingers.
The word Oleophobic roughly translates as “afraid of oil.” research tells us. So the iPhone 3G S should really be the iPhone 3G AO, we think at least.
The amazing part about the Oleophobic iPhone, is that the Smartphone surface refuses to allow the oil from your fingers and other bodily oil parts to cling.
The glass screen of the iPhone 3G S has been infused with a special organic polymer, by way of an intermediary substance, that is oleophobic. Thus the Oleophobic iPhone!
You can think of the Oleophobic iPhone 3G S screen as adding a nice shiny wax to your bran new car’s body. The iPhone 3G S is just some kind of wonder machine, aint it.
...Applers were able to do this by bonding this oleophobic polymer to glass. The polymer is an organic (from organisms) compound, carbon-based. The glass is nominally inorganic, silicon-based… solid rock. The trick is getting the one to stick to the other. Although it is nominally proprietary, this is probably done with a third molecule that sticks to silicon on one side and to carbon-based polymers on the other side. Chemical engineers get it to stay stuck by inducing compounds to diffuse or "inter-penetrate" into the polymer. The intermediate chemical is a "silane," a molecule that has silicon and alkanes (chains of carbon atoms).
