Picasso Museum Robberty : Pablo Picasso Notebook Stolen

Notebook of drawings by Pablo Picasso stolen from Paris Picasso Museum.

A notebook containing drawings by the legendary Spanish artist Pablo Picasso has been stolen from the Picasso Museum in a daring robbery Tuesday morning in France.

The Pablo Picasso sketchbook that once belonged to the Spanish art legend is valued at eight million Euros or $11 million dollars US.

The collection of drawings by Pablo Picasso were taken from the Picasso Museum, located in central Paris, police told media.

Reports from the French capital say police alerted media on condition of anonymity. French police bosses did not authorize not authorized the stolen Picasso notebook information to be leaked to the media.

The Picasso museum in Paris is dedicated to the painter who is regarded as the founder of the Cubist movement, one of the great artists of the 20th century.

The Picasso museum, a former mansion in the Paris Marais district, contains some 250 paintings, 160 sculptures and 1,500 drawings by the artist.

Interestingly, Picasso paintings have been stolen before. In 2007, two Pablo Picasso painting were robbed from Paris apartment of Pablo Picasso's granddaughter, Diana Widmaier-Picasso.

In June 2008, four Pablo Picasso paintings were stolen from an art museum in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

This 2009 robbery leads to speculation that a crack team of art robbers are working, possibly under the leadership of a wealthy art fanatic, willing to pay professionals for a piece of the art legends' work.
