The days of the remote control for consoles and a range of electronics could be numbered.
Microsoft is set to launched a new home video game system under the name 'Project Natal' to take on the Nintendo Wii market. Microsofts' new Xbox will utilise technology gaming minus the remote, where gamers use voice and body movements to play the new Xbox device.
"For far too many people, the controller is a barrier separating video-game players from everyone else," Mattrick told the sea of hard-core gamers. "With this in mind, we asked ourselves a new set of questions: Can we go beyond the controller? Can we deliver games and entertainment that everyone can instantly enjoy? Can we make you the controller? We can."
Microsoft's Senior Vice President Don Mattrick said about Natal and "the opportunity to dream the next dream."
Microsoft even recruited film director Steven Spielberg to hype up the future Natal project, expected to be part of Microsoft's next Xbox Live console.
"The gamer in me went out of my mind when I got to be interactive with this," Spielberg told a packed Microsoft press conference in Los Angeles.
The Microsoft Natal event was announcement on the eve of a major E3 video game industry convention.
"I got a feeling I was in a historic moment. What Microsoft is doing isn't re-inventing the wheel; this is about no wheel at all."

Microsoft Xbox and Project Natal is looking to catch up with the Nintendo Wii and take market share of Sony's PlayStation's gaming console.
The Xbox Natal project is expected to have a different brand name when it comes avaliable in the coming months and years.
