26-year-old Annemarie Dooling was in a HSBC bank branch in New York when a heist took place. The bank robber got away with just $500 in cash but it was Annemarie Dooling and her smartphone Twittering that grabbed the media attention.
New York media reported that Annemarie Dooling went into the HSBC bank just after 9am on Tuesday local time and was standing in line Tweeting away on her mobile cell smartphone when the robber hit.
Technology geek Annemarie Dooling did not notice the robbery at first. If Aemarie Dooling hadn't been busy on her Blackberry she would have see a man make a mad dash away from the branch teller. Not long after the HSBC bank drama, Annemarie Dooling was suddenly in lock down until police could get to the bank and investigate.
During the HSBC bank crisis Annemarie Dooling went strait onto her trusty Blackberry smartphone and began updating her 2000 followers the situation.
'They won't let us leave the bank...Police just arrived','' Anemarie Dooling wrote
''Maybe they'll let me go now...They want to question us. I didn't even notice this happening while I was standing there...
'Honestly I didn't notice anything. Bank was very professional, teller calm... Four of us being held. It's one woman's birthday and she is offering me a granola bar. She is too cute. One man has low blood sugar. Can we GO?!'
