
Google Chrome OS
Google announced on its blog that it will launch an internet browsing operating system to take on Microsoft at its own game. Called the Google Chrome OS Goolge is said to be taking aim at the netbook and small computer device market with its new feature Google Chrome OS.
The idea behind Google Chrome OS is to capitalise on the growing netbook and laptop technology computer market.
Microsoft's Internet Explorer is credited with making the PC computer one of the most successful technologies in history.
Google said netbooks will be sold world wide with Chrome OS by the middle of 2010.
"Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS," said the company in a blog.
"We're designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds," said the blog post.
The Google Chrome OS for netbooks blog was written by Sundar Pichai who is vice president of product management, and Google's engineering director Linus Upson.
Sundar Pichair and Linus Upson wrote: "The operating systems that browsers run on were designed in an era where there was no web" and that this OS is "our attempt to re-think what operating systems should be".
Sundar Pichair and Linus Upson said Google Chrome OS would go back to basics of computing in the internet era.
"We are completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don't have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates.''
