Hero: Jason Oglesbee, construction worker, saves woman from drowning in river..Construction worker Jaskon Oglesbee has been hailed a hero.
The hero construction worker, Jaskon Oglesbee is credited with saving the life of a woman, after he was lowered with the help of fellow construction workers via crane and chain into a river dam to save a woman's life from an overturned boat.
The dramatic rescue was captured on tape by news crews as the unnamed woman held on for her life after the boat she and her husband were in capsized on the Des Moines River Tuesday afternoon.
The woman who was saved by Jaskon Oglesbee was lucky to be alive, her husband unfortunately drowned.
Construction worker colleague and witness Joe Lowe said: "I saw the boat drift down, and he (the man who drowned) started it up and he hit the bridge base.
"Then he tried to wrap it up with an anchor or line and then I heard him holler at his wife, put your life jacket on. He didn't have one on."
The woman Jason Oglesbee saved was luckily wearing a life jacket. The woman was able to float in the raging river for some half hour before a brave Jason Oglesbee was lowered into the river and pull the woman out.
"They just harnessed me in and dipped me down in the water and I grabbed her," hero Jason Oglesbee said.
"If it wasn't for the team effort of Cramer & Associates, we might have two drowning victims," another worker said.
