Alexis "The Explosive Thin Man" Arguello has died

Former champion boxer and mayor of Managua in Nicaragua has been found dead. News media in Nicaragua say "the explosive thin man" Alexis Arguello shot himself, but a full report is not yet available.
Reports say the former professional boxer and 3 time world champion Alexis Arguello shot himself through the heart.
After his retirement from boxing, Alexis Argüello became active in Nicaraguan politics. Alexis Arguello was elected mayor of Managua in November 2008, the nation's capital city.
Alexis Arguello was active in boxing from the late 1960's (when he made his pro boxing debut at 17) thought the 1980s and early 1990's. He fought in various countries around the world and in various weight divisions.
