The pilot of a small passenger plane, Captain Robert Mansell has been hailed as a hero.

Reports from the Caribbean said Captain Robert Mansell landed his small jet plane on the Ocean surface safely in a similar style to what hero pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger did with his plane US Airways 1549 on New York's Hudson River in January 2009.

In this miracle plane water landing, reports said Captain Robert Mansell s

aved the lives of all his passengers on board the twin engine craft in the Caribbean.

Fying his Divi Divi Air jet aircraft between the south Caribbean islands of Curacao and Bonaire on Wednesday, some 40 miles of the coast of Venezuela, Captain Robert Mansell was forced to ditch in the ocean after his plane's right engine cut out.

All 9 passengers on board Robert Mansell's jet survived, but tragically hero Captain Robert Mansell was unable to escape as the jet

quickly sunk to the depths of the South Caribbean sea.

The passangers on the Divi Davi Air are reported to have tried in vain to release Robert Mansell from his cockpit seat, but were not able to release him in time before the plane sank. It's reported Robert Mansell may have been unconcious, having hit his heat against the cockpit window on impact.

A 32-year-old British pilot, Robert Mansell was hailed as a hero by co-workers at Caribbean airline Divi Divi Air.

A spokesperson from Divi Divia Air, Simon Janzen said the wreckage from the small jet plane was yet to be recovered.

Simon Janzen said of Captain Robert Mansell: "He's a hero. All the passengers survived and he is the only one missing. If he wasn't a good pilot, he couldn't have ditched it so everyone could be saved."

Simon Janzen continued: "Other pilots wouldn't have known what to do but he landed the aircraft so that everyone could get out safely"
