A US man has attempted a most bizarre world record. Sean Murphy has attempted to break the world record for most cockroaches in a human mouth at once.

The Lansing, Michigan man, Sean Murphy successfully managed to fit 16 Madagascar hissing cockroaches into his mouth for a total of 10 seconds at a pet store in the state capital.

The current world record is reported to stand at 11 cockroaches, at least for an alive human.

“My first thought was I can beat that” Sean Murphy said.

“Eleven doesn’t seem like that many,” the new cockroach in the mouth world record holder said.

Hilariously, local media said Cockroach lover Sean Murphy initially stopped with 12 Madagascar hissing cockroaches in his mouth and held for the officially required 10 seconds, but then continued until he reached 16.

“I’ve never gotten it in one try so that was a big surprise,” Sean Murphy said.

“Let’s see if anyone can match that within the next year and maybe next Halloween I’ll shoot for 20.”

Sean Murphy is now waiting for the Guinness World records to officially recognize his world record attempt.

“As far as an unofficial record, I have it.” he said.
