SHWETA VERMAN SPEAKS....

Picture: Shweta Verma, young mother talks for first time about her miracle baby who survived being hit by a train when 6 month old son Saurish Verma rolled onto the tracks in his stroller as a train rolled into the station....

The mother involved in the now famous baby being hit by a train incident, Shweta Verma, has spoken for the first time about her ordeal.

The world was amazed by video of Shweta Verma and her baby in a pram on a Melbourne, Australia train station last week, but any further details were held back until now.

In the CCTV video from the Melbourne train station, Shweta Verma is seen holding her baby's pram before losing concentration. Shweta Verma appears to let go of her baby's stroller, that begins to roll and fall onto the train tracks as a multi-car train pulls into the station.

The mother of six-month-old Saurish, Shweta Verma, has told her story to an Australian women's magazine, after Saurish Verma somehow survived the train incident after being dragged 30-45 meters under the 250 ton train.

Reports after the incident said Saurish Verma escaped with only minor bruising, much to the relief of his mother Shweta Verma who thought her baby had certainly perished.

"It was a life and death fear," Shweta Verma told magazine, Woman's Day.

"I thought I'd lost my child, who I love more than anyone or anything else - but then the next moment all I could think was how to find him and see how he was," Shweta Verma said.

The magazine reported that Shweta Verma had never before traveled via train with her new born son Saurish Verma.

Explaining how the bizarre incident happened, Shweta Verma told the magazine that she had failed to put the brakes on son Saurish Verma's stroller and had let go of the miracle baby's stroller without thinking.

"I took the brake off and my hands left the pram for a fraction of a second, and suddenly it was flying off the platform. There was a downward slope on the platform and it rolled away so quickly … I couldn’t catch it," a still shocked Shweta Verma told the magazine.

"I tried to grab it but it had gone," Shweta Verma recalled.

The Indian-Australian mother, Shweta Verma explained her relief to be holding her crying son, Saurish Verma, after he had survived the harrowing incident. Shweta Verma described it as an unforgettable experience.

"I was crying. I’d been thinking, 'Oh God' – and now all I could say was 'Thank you God. You have taken good care of him and it is because of your grace he is in my arms'," Saweta Verma said.

"I would equate it to having been in excruciating pain and shock, and suddenly being washed with an overwhelming feeling of relief. He was still crying, but he was with the person he was most familiar with. He seemed to know, 'I’m okay now, I’m in my mother’s arms'," Shweta Verma said in the emotional interview.
