San Diego Earthqake 5.9: Baja Mexico Quake December 30 2009

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake has struck the Baja penninsula in Mexico.

The December 30 2009 was felt in San Diego, California by millions.

The 5.9 earthquake hit around a depth of 7 kilometers of 4.3 miles and 10:48:57 AM local time in Western North America.

The earthquake hit the boreder of Mexico and the United States at 32.467°N, 115.199°W

Thousands reported the San Diego earthquake on social networking site Twitter.

"we totally had a quake! The whole office was shaking!" one user from San Diego wrote.

"Felt that earthquake! Very long" another stunned San Diego resident said.

A southern California resident said the earthquake was strong, and reminder her of the famous Northridge quake: "I haven't felt something like that since the Northridge quake."

One user said he was in the dentists chair and felt the shaking: "Woah!! Thre wuza 5.9 earthquake in mexicali! The dentist chair wuz shaking like crazy"

The US Geological Survey said the Baja/Tiunana/San Diego earthquake Wednesday December 30 hit:

# 33 km (20 miles) SE (129°) from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico
# 37 km (23 miles) SE (130°) from Calexico, CA
# 171 km (106 miles) E (92°) from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico
