Kevin Bacon To Receive Critics Choice Award

We're all connected to Kevin Bacon....

Kevin Bacon will be honored with the third annual Joel Siegel Award by the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) for his philanthropic efforts, it has been announced.

The award, named after the late “Good Morning America” film critic and BFCA member Joel Siegel, is given annually to celebrities to recognize their efforts for charities.

In 2007, Bacon, 51, launched the SixDegress.org foundation, a social networking site that aims to link people to charities and each other. It has raised nearly $3 million since its launch.

BFCA President Joey Berlin said, “Kevin has always held a special place in the hearts of our membership since he won the very first Best Actor Award we ever gave out for ‘Murder in the First.’”

“The Joel Siegel Award was created to celebrate its namesake’s way of life in the spotlight. It honors a person who understands that the true value of celebrity is as an enhanced platform to do good works for others. Kevin personifies the values celebrated by this award.”

The award will be presented to Bacon by movie icon and “The River Wild” co-star Meryl Streep at the 15th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards ceremony on January 15. The event will be aired live on VH1, and will be hosted by Kristin Chenoweth.
