Evan Muncie: Man Pulled from Haiti Rubble after 27 Days

Another miracle in Haiti, a man named Evan Muncie has been pulled from rubble in Haiti, 27 days after a massive earthquake struck the Caribbean island, killing more than 200,000.

Media report Evan Muncie stunned Haitians after he was pulled alive from a collapsed building in Haiti's capital Monday local time.

The 28-year-old retail worker was immediately taken to a US military field hospital in the capital Port au Prince afer he was dug out by regular Haitians from a collapsed market.

American cable news network CNN reported that Evan Muncie told US medics that during his nearly month long ordeal trapped under rubble that he could hear excavating around him.

It was still not 100% clear how Evan Muncie managed to survive so long but Muncie almost certainly had to have access to water during his time trapped.

CNN said Evan Muncie feared he would be buried alive after rescue workers had given up looking for survivors.

Doctors who had examined Evan Muncie said the young Haitian appeared disoriented and was likely hallucinating for many days.

Dr Mike Connelly told CNN: Initially, I'm sure he had his senses with him, so maybe he was able to find some kind of resources."

Dr Connelly added: 'He was emaciated. He hadn't had anything in quite some time. He had open wounds that were festering on both of his feet.'

Most rescue workers had stopped looking for Haitian earthquake survivors back in late January.
