Marion Jones to Play WNBA for Tula Shock



TULSA, Oklahoma- Disgraced Olympic Athlete Marion Jones is getting a new lease on her sports career, signing a deal with WNBA basketball team the Tulsa Shock.

In an Wednesday morning press conference, Marion Jones announced she would embark on a professional basketball career to make amends for her disgraceful cheating at the Sydney 2000 Olympic games.

The former Olympian representing the United States was stripped of her five gold medals after admitting to using performance enhancing drugs years later.

Marion Jones is signing a free agent rookie contract with the Tulsa Shock WNBA team.

“We’re thrilled to have her,” Shock head coach Nolan Richardson said. “In the workouts last week I saw how hard she works. She has things you can’t teach, like speed and great hand and eye coordination. She looks chiseled. Her age (34) might be saying one thing but everything about her is saying she’s young.

Marion Jones has experience playing basketball, having been a star on the court with the North Carolina Tarheels in the early 1990's
