Roy Ashburn Arrest for DUI After Leaving Gay Bar in Sacremento

SACREMENTO, California- An anti-gay GOP Californian state Senator, Roy Ashburn, has been arrested for DUI after allegedly leaving a gay bar in Sacramento, California.

The Republican State Senator was pulled up by traffic police in the early hours of the morning Wednesday in down town Sacramento reportedly "weaving" his way around on the roads.

Highway patrol officers said they suspected Roy Ashburn had been drinking and was taken to the local lockup where he was charged with driving with a blood alcohol level above .08 and several other charges.

Senator Roy Ashburn has been a fierce critics by Californian government moves toward more liberal laws for homosexuals in his state, voting against every measure on the issue in the Californian legislature.

Many are wondering why Ashburn was seen, drunk, leaving a gay bar given his views on progress for homosexuals in his state.

“I am deeply sorry for my actions and offer no excuse for my poor judgment. I accept complete responsibility for my conduct and am prepared to accept the consequences for what I did”, said the senator in a press release.
