
Powerful earthquake measuring 6.5 rocks Mexico, reports.
MEXICO CITY, Mexico- A powerful 6.5 magnitude earthquake has hit near Mexico City early morning Wednesday June 30, 2010, reports said.
The epicenter of the Mexico quake was located in Oaxaca state, reports said.
The quake hit at location, 97.66°W 16.77°N, at a depth of about 35 kilometers, preliminary data said.
The quake hit over land in southern Mexico near the Pacific Ocean.
The USGS said the quake hit these distances from major population centers:
13 km (8 miles) ENE (60°) from Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, Mexico
58 km (36 miles) SSE (156°) from Huajuapan, Oaxaca, Mexico
87 km (54 miles) WNW (287°) from Atzompa, Oaxaca, Mexico
96 km (59 miles) WNW (289°) from Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico
255 km (159 miles) ENE (78°) from Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico

MEXICO CITY, Mexico- A powerful 6.5 preliminary magnitude earthquake has hit southern Mexico, reports said.
The powerful quake was felt by millions across the region, hitting around 2.22am local time.
The earthquake was centred near the city of Tlaxiaco in Oaxaca state, in southern Mexico, near the Pacific Ocean.
The quake was very shallow according to data provided by the US Geological Survey, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The earthquake was powerful enough to sway sky scrapers several hundred kilometers away in Mexico City.
Thousands of people took to social networking site Twitter to say they had felt the quake. Any deaths, injuries or damage from the June 30, 2010 quake has yet to be reported.
