Bomb attack: Iranian President reportedly survives grenade attack on convoy in western Iran.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has reportedly survived an attack on his convoy, reports from the region say.

The report from a Lebanese news organization said a bomb had been thrown a the Presidential convoy in the western Iranian city of Hamedan.

An unknown number of people were wounded in the apparent assassination attempt on Ahmadinejad.

Al Arabiya TV said Wednesday afternoon the attacker hit a car carrying journalists, covering the Iranian President's visit to the area.

Details were still sketchy, however reports also said the allaged attacker was arrested by authorities.

Delta Flight 1475 Blows Tire Makes Emergency Landing

A Delta Airways Flight 1457 was forced to dump fuel and circle Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Thursday afternoon after blowing out a tire on take-off.

The plane on its way to Portland, Oregon, reports said.

UPDATE: Flight 1457 landed safely around 2.30pm local time, media in Atlanta said. Numerous fire trucks and emergency units were seen surrounding the aircraft at landing.

A 3.7 earthquake hits the US north-east this morning waking millions across the Beltway region.

People in the US Capital awoke the the small earth tremor that was centered near Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Whitehouse reporter for CNN, Ed Henry said on his twitter account: "
WJLA reporting a magnitude 3.7 earthquake in DC area -- definitely woke me up"

Dozens of other media and individuals on social media also reported feeling the quake that hit at 39.167°N, 77.252°W around 5.04am local time Friday July 16 2010.

The US Geological Survey said the small earthquake, rare in the region, hit these distances from major population centers in the region:

An inquest has heard that 31-year-old Nicola Paginton died after using a sex toy while watching an adult film, probably due to her state arousal.

UK social worker Nicola Paginton was found dead in bed in October 2009 with with adult content running on her laptop and an adult toy was discovered next to her.

Authorities at an inquest determined that Nichola Paginton passed away from a sudden heart arrhythmia, that occurring during her state of arousal.

The inquest hear that after Nicola Paginton failed to arrive at work, a co-worker and a neighbor tried to find Ms Paginton in her home, concerned for her welfare.

Dr Richard Jones from a University hospital told the inquest into Nicola Paginton's death there was "nothing to explain why she died in this way but I suspect sudden cardiac death."

The face of Jesus has been found by views of the popular Google Maps applicication.

The Jesus image was found by a 26-year-old internet user in a field on farmland near Puspokladany in Hungary.

Briton Zack Evens, from England, spotted the Jesus Goolge Earth image while searching for a nice place to vaccation in Eastern Europe.

"I'm not a religious person looking for images of Mary or Jesus in everything, but this is obvious," Evans told UK tabloid, The Sun.

MEXICO CITY, Mexico- A powerful 6.5 magnitude earthquake has hit near Mexico City early morning Wednesday June 30, 2010, reports said.

The epicenter of the Mexico quake was located in Oaxaca state, reports said.

The quake hit at location, 97.66°W 16.77°N, at a depth of about 35 kilometers, preliminary data said.

The quake hit over land in southern Mexico near the Pacific Ocean.

MEXICO CITY, Mexico- A powerful 6.5 preliminary magnitude earthquake has hit southern Mexico, reports said.

The powerful quake was felt by millions across the region, hitting around 2.22am local time.

The earthquake was centred near the city of Tlaxiaco in Oaxaca state, in southern Mexico, near the Pacific Ocean.

The quake was very shallow according to data provided by the US Geological Survey, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The earthquake was powerful enough to sway sky scrapers several hundred kilometers away in Mexico City.

Thousands of people took to social networking site Twitter to say they had felt the quake. Any deaths, injuries or damage from the June 30, 2010 quake has yet to be reported.

Verizon Wireless iPhone Deal

US telecommunications provider Verizon Wireless will be selling the iPhone 4 and 5 on its networks from January 2011, reports said.

The news has been greeted warmly by Apple fans in the US, who for years have been stuck on AT&T Inc's network for iPhone coverage.

The exclusive iPhone contract with AT&T was set to end in January, Bloomberg news reported Tuesday night, citing unidentified sources in the Verizon camp.

Verizon Wirless is at the forefront of digital communications technology in the United States, currently building it's own 4G wireless network.

Later this year, Verizon was also expected to unveil deals with several other popular smartphone makers to carry their respective devices.

Massive growth in the use of smartphones for high volume data activity, like the downloading of music, videos and applications has put an increased strain on the AT&T network, creating iPhone user dismay.

Steve Jobs' Apple Inc. has sold some 50 million iPhone smartphone devices world wide since 2007, with the 4th generation iPhone released world wide last week.

Global Markets "on a cliff edge"

Global financial markets continue to fall as sickly European banks create nervousness and austerity budgets implemented by some nations threaten growth.

Markets were described as "on a cliff edge" by analysts as Asian, North American and European indices moved swiftly downward.

Rumors European Banks were struggling to raise funds in money markets continue to haunt investors, as a Thursday deadline for payments to the European Central Bank loomed for many institutions.

On Tuesday an unexpected fall in consumer confidence saw punishment on Wall Street. The Dow was down 2.6% for the day and the S&P hit an 8-month low.

There were also signs the Chinese economy was starting to cool down creating concerns global demand and growth would fall with it. Next door, Japanese export expectations were being revised, spooking investors.

The timing of emergency austerity budgets handed down by several European Parliaments, aimed at cutting severe debts, are also a worry to some who fear the Global Financial Crisis had yet to run its course.

In the UK, reports said budget cuts could see 1.3 million people lose their jobs, with Unions looking at implementing nation wide strikes in protest.

Andrew Roberts, head of European rates strategy at the Royal Bank of Scotland said: "We strongly believe that a cliff-edge may be around the corner, for the global banking system, particularly in Europe, and for the global economy, particularly in the US and Europe."

NEW YORK- A beautiful Russian businesswoman accused of spying for Moscow has become the face of a sinister Cold War-style team of operatives exposed by US law enforcement.

Dubbed "the Red Head" by Manhattan tabloid media, Anna Chapman, a georgeous 28-year-old businesswoman, is one of 10 alleged members of the Russian spying ring faced with charges in a US court.

Champman was one of several Russian operatives, working out of an embassy in New York City, observed by the FBI sending sensitive data via laptop to clandestine wireless networks.

It appears Chapman may have been the spy to have exposed the rest of the highly established, deep cover Russian network. Earlier this year FBI agents posing as Moscow handlers tricked the beauty into exposing vital information now being used against her in a Federal Court.

During the set-up in a Manhattan coffee house, Anna Chapman is asked by undercover FBI agents to give a fake passport over to them, she obliges, according to court documents.

When asked to carry out this “next step”, Anna Chapman replies: “Shit, of course.”

Many of the other accused Russian spys opearting in the north-east of the United States, near New York CIty and Washington D.C, have been operating since the 1990's, with some posing as couples and owning homes in the region.

An apparently naive Ann Chapman had however only been in the United States since February, using a start up recruitment firm valued at around US $2 million, as cover for her apparent primary goal of penetrating US government and policy making circles.

Chapman has an extensive online and social media profile, posing in Youtube video's and establishing a Facebook account.

Her company, called “Time Venture”, specialized in “technology, Internet, media and leisure activities,” Chapman said in one Youtube video.

American man claiming to be on a solo assasination mission to kill Osama bin Laden arrested in Chitral region of northern Pakistan.

A 52-year-old Californian man named Gary Brooks Faulkner has been arrested in northern Pakistan with a pistol, sword and high-tech night vision equipment, claiming he was on a solo mission to kill wanted terrorist Osama bin Laden.

"God is with me, and I am confident I will be successful in killing him," Gary Brooks Faulkner said.

The construction worker was arrested in a Forrest in the region of Chitral late Sunday by local police, reports said.

An officer said: "We initially laughed when he told us that he wanted to kill Osama bin Laden."

Gary Brooks Fualkner was said to have been making his way to eastern Afghanistan, where teh worlds most wanted man, Osama bin Laden, is said to be hiding.

Police in the region said Faulkner was also carrying various Christian religion texts with him. The bin Laden assassin said he had visited Pakistan seven times as part of his preparations to kill the well known terrorist.

A 16-year-old US girl attempting to become the youngest person in history to circumnavigate the world on a sail boat is lost at sea, reports said.

There are grave fears for the life of Abby Sunderland who just hours ago activated two emergency satellite beacons June 10 off the coast of Madagascar, in the Indian Ocean.

Abby Sunderland's mother, MaryAnne Sunderland, told ABCNews her daughter was experiencing 20-25 foot seas in freezing waters some 500 miles north of the Antarctic Islands.

Just hours before, on Wednesday evening, Abby Sunderland made a blog post on her website about the conditions she was facing: "The wind is beginning to pick up. It is back up to 20 knots and I am expecting that by midnight tonight I could have 35-50 knots with gusts to 60 so I am off to sleep before it really picks up."

The closest land to Sunderland's last location was Reunion Island, east of Madagascar and the nearest contactable ship is approximately 400 miles away.

Abby Sunderland's support crew back in the US were attempting to contact the ship as part of a search and rescue effort.

The Californian left from Marina del Rey on January 24 this year on her boat "Wild Eyes" in an attempt to become the youngest person to ever circumnavigate the world solo.

The current holder of that title is 17-year-old Mike Perham of the UK.

Last month, Australian teen Jessica Watson attempted the round-the-world solo record, arriving safely in Sydney, Australia, however failing to travel south enough on her return home to break the record.

In 2009, then 14-year-old Dutch teen Laura Dekker was prevented by a court from attempting to circumnavigate the world, as she was deemed too young to attempt the feat.

Naro 1 South Korean Space Rocket Lost After Launch June 10

SOEUL, South Korea- South Korea has lost communications with a rocket it launched today, local media said.

Nicknamed the Naro 1,the rocket was carrying satellite communications equipment and launched earlier Thursday from South Korea's southern coast, without any visible problems.

The Korean Space Launch Vehicle is a half-Russian, half-Korean rocket part of a $400 million space program funded by the South Korean government.

The flight had been delayed by a day after a problem with a potential fire hazard a the launch site.

The Naro 1 is a two stage rocket. The first stage, a kerosene-burning 9.5-foot-wide piece was built by Khrunichev, a Russian company.

The second stage was made with South Korean technology and was programmed to coast for nearly three minutes before firing the flight's 219-pound payload into an orbit around the Earth.

BATAVIA, New York- A 41-year-old woman has become just the twelfth person charged with adultery in New York state after she was arrested by police having sex in a public park.

Married mother-of-three, Suzanne Corona, was caught with 29-year-old Justin Amend at a popular park in a small town in upstate New York earlier this week.

The lovers were charged with public lewdness, with Corona later being charged with adultery.

Corona and and Amend were caught in the act on a public bench as children played in the park nearby, reports said.

Arresting officer Matthew Baldwin approached the couple after he was alerted to their activity by another woman.

Suzanne Corona insisted she was 'just talking', however Baldwin reported that Amend's shirt was off and his trousers unbuttoned as Corona sat in his lap.

Corona has apologised since being arrested, and claims she was no longer having sex with her husband and had been drunk at the time.

Conoran said: 'One thing led to another and this is what ended up happening.

'I feel terrible, especially for my family. It's an embarrassment for my family. It just happened. There was no reason for it.

'It just occurred and obviously I wish it never happened. It wasn't planned. I am very sorry for the situation.'

Suxanne Coron denied she had engaged in a sexual act with Justin Amend.

Adultery is a law rarely used and has been on the books of several US states since the early 1900's. Adultery is a criminal offence and carries a prison sentence.

The law has been part of New Yorkpenal code since 1907.

Joran van der Sloot killed Stephany Flores

LIMA, Peru- Joran van der Sloot has admitted killing Peruvian woman Stephany Flores, reports said.

“I did not want to do it. The girl intruded into my private life," van der Sloot told Peruvian officials, according to the La Republica newspaper.

The report said Joran van der Sloot, who in 2005 was suspected to have killed American student Natalie Holloway on the Caribbean island of Aruba, killed Flores by snapping her neck after she snatched his laptop computer.

"She had no right," La Republica claimed van der Sloot said. "She was scared, we argued, she tried to escape and I grabbed her by the neck and hit her."

Van der Sloot met Stephany Flores, a business student, at a casino in Lima, Peru.

Security vision showed Van der Sloot and Flores entering a hotel room. The vision showed van der Sloot leaving the hotel room,which he paid for, alone.

The 22-year-old Dutchman then left in a taxi, bound for Chile, where he was found and extradited back to Peru.

The body of 21-year-old Stephany Flores was discoverd by hotel staff, with authorities saying her body had puncture wounds from a stabbing.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the new smartphone from Apple Inc. at the World Wide Developers Conference in San Francisco, California.

“We’re going to take the biggest leap since the original iPhone: iPhone 4,” CEO Jobs said at the WWDC.

Jobs said the iPhone4 will have a longer battery life, a thinner design and a high resolution-screen, video calling with a forward facing camera, as well as a 5 mega pixel camera with HD video recording.

he iPhone 4 has a 3.5-inch display that packs 960 x 640 pixels, has in-plane switching (same as the iPad), offers 800:1 contrast ratio, and has what Apple calls Retina Display. Pixels are packed into the iPhone 4's display at 326 per inch. That's more than the human eye can even detect, which maxes out at 300 pixels per inch. It looks amazingly crisp.

The iPhone camera come with a flash,5x digital zoom, and has a touch-to-focus feature. The iPhone4 will also have a secondary, user-facing camera, which works with the FaceTime video-calling application.

Apple refused to sell iPad to people of Asian background

MANHATTAN, New York- New York Attorney General is set to investiagate Apple after the company was alleged to have refused to sell the new iPad tablet device to people of Asian background due to illegal smuggling fears.

Since the iPad was launched earlier this year, thousands of iPad devices were smuggled into counties like China from the United States as the popular device was yet to be made avaliable in the region.

The iPad was then sold by unofficial vendors of the iPad for overinflated prices, as seen in this CNN report.

Politico reports New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's office was tipped off by a local Chinese-American politician, who complained publicly in May 2010 that her constituents were being asked unusual questions when they sought to buy the iPad

From Politico: "Our Office received complaints over the treatment of certain individuals of Asian descent at two Apple stores in New York City," said Cuomo communications director Richard Bamberger in an email.

A source familiar with the investigation said it was focused on flagship stores in Soho and on 14th Street in Manhattan, and that investigators from the office's Civil Rights Bureau had already interviewed store managers, with Apple's "complete" cooperation.

Apple's press office didn't immediately respond to inquiries by telephone or email, but a person who had been informed of Apple's policy said the company -- concerned that customers were purchasing multiple iPads for sale abroad -- had briefly instituted a questionnaire for use in the course of iPad sales, aimed at blocking those illegal exports.

The source said the policy is no longer in place, and Bamberger signaled that the investigation appears likely to be resolved routinely.

"Our Office received complaints over the treatment of certain individuals of Asian descent at two Apple stores in New York City," said Cuomo communications director Richard Bamberger in an email.

WASHINGTON D.C- Veteran White House journalist Helen Thomas says she is resigning from her post, effective immediately.

89-year-old Helen Thomas announced Monday morning, after making a series of comments over the recent incidence involving the Israeli blockade of Gaza.

"I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon," Thomas said.

In comments recorded on digital video camera by blogger Rabbi Nesenoff on the White House Lawn on American Jewish Heritage Celebration Day last week, Thomas said Jews should "get the hell out" of Israel and "go home" to Poland, Germany, or America.

Over the weekend the comments were condemed by various American commentators, fellow journalists, and the US Press Secretary.

It was a sad end to an extraordinary career covering America's, and the world's, most powerful political office.

Thomas served for fifty-seven years as a correspondent and, later, White House bureau chief for United Press International (UPI).

Thomas covered every President of the United States since the later years of the Eisenhower administration, coming to the forefront with John F. Kennedy.

She was the first female officer of the National Press Club, the first female member and president of the White House Correspondents Association, and, in 1975, the first female member of the Gridiron Club. She has written five books; her latest with co-author Craig Crawford is Listen Up, Mr. President: Everything You Always Wanted Your President to Know and Do.

MANHATTAN, New York- That Apple iPad you just purchased is starting to look rather bulky, awkward and is starting to become uncomfortable to carry around all day.

You're too cool for a man bag, right?

How about a suit that tucks in your iPad as you walk? There's no geek guilt for you and you no longer look like a fool in the eyes of the opposite sex.

Thats right, a company in New York has designed a suit so that you can neatly place your Apple iPad away, for easy acess, without the hastle of walking around with the device in your hands.

But with a height of 9.56 inches (242.8 mm), a width of 7.47 inches (189.7 mm) and a weight 1.6 pounds (0.73 kg), the iPad might just get a tad annoying flayling around in the one side all day.

Well, you need to suck it up Princess, you're a real man now; a regular James Bond gadget geek with a licence to cool.

Megan Fox Fired for Lingerie Model in Transformers 3

HOLLYWOOD, California- Victoria's Secret lingerie model Rosie Huntington-Whitely will replace Megan Fox in the upcoming Transformers 3 film as the new female lead.

Director of the upcoming movie, Michael Bay, announced 23-year-old Rosie Huntington-Whitley as the new star of the hit film series.

"I would like for all you S4TE fans to welcome Rosie Huntington Whiteley to the world of Transformers," Michael Bay's website said in a blog post.

"As some of you might know, she's the new female lead in Transformers 3. She's worked with Michael before in his Victoria's Secret "A Thousand Fantasies" ad."

The English model will star along side star Shia Saide LaBeousin the $200 million film.

Megan Fox is regarded as one of the hottest women in the world, helping make Transformers and Transformers 2 into some of the most successful Hollywood films of all time.

Fox played the role of Mikaela in the first two Transformers, however Michael Bay is said to have not wanted the character to continue in the series. Management for the actress denies that, saying Megan Fox wanted to leave the movie series on her own terms.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley began working on the New York catwalks in 2004, by 2006 she was working for Victoria's Secret as a lingerie model. In 2009 she was named "model of the Year" by Elle Magazine.

The DreamWorks/Paramount Pictures production of Transformers 3 has begun filming on location in Los Angeles.

Filming will later move to locations in Chicago, Detroit, Washington and Cape Canaveral in Florida, as well as Russia and an unnamed nation in Africa, likely Morocco.

Transformers 3 will be released across the world in July 2011.
